Admit
to allow or concede as valid: to admit the force of an argument, to acknowledge; confess: He admitted his guilt.

First step is to admit that you’ve been doing things your way and not God’s way – that’s basically what “Sin” is. That’s the general part but if you know there are particular things that you tend to do that are not God’s way then it is good to own up to them now. God likes us to be honest and truthful in our dealings with Him.

Having admitted you’ve been going about things the wrong way and need to change you should decide now that you need God so you can turn things about, follow Jesus and live your life God’s way – this is to “Repent” in Bible-speak.

Believe
to have confidence in the truth, the existence, or the reliability of something, although without absolute proof that one is right in doing so: Only if one believes in something can one act purposefully, to have confidence or faith in the truth of (a positive assertion, story, etc.); give credence to, to have confidence in the assertions of (a person).

The second step is to believe (put your trust in) that Jesus died and rose again for you to save you from your sins.

I guess you wouldn’t be here reading this unless you had a hope for something new in you life – this is it! You don’t have to walk around with all the mess that sticks to us in life any more, Jesus can be your “Saviour”!

Confess
to acknowledge one's belief or faith in; declare adherence to.

- That you will follow Jesus alone, no longer your own way or any other way – that you will make him “Lord” of your life.

This may sound a bit scary, and it is a very big step to take because it will affect everything you do from now on. But if what you’ve done to date hasn’t been too wonderful or maybe leaves you feeling empty in some way then here is where you’ll find true purpose and meaning for your life.

How?

The way to take these steps is by speaking to God in prayer. If you want to do this now here’s a simple prayer to say, you don’t need lots of flowery language or churchly words, you just need to mean what you are saying:

Dear God, I admit I’ve lived my life my way and not yours and that I need you. Please forgive me where I’ve sinned and give me a full life as I follow Jesus here on earth and eternal life with you in heaven. I believe Jesus died and rose again for my sins and I confess Jesus to be the Lord and Saviour of my life. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Next steps

Tell someone who knows you well what you’ve just done.

Contact a good Christian church near you and get together with others who’ve taken the same steps you’ve just made.

Ask them to Baptise you as a seal or mark of the steps you’ve just taken.

Get help form you church on how to continue to follow Jesus way.
